Rāwhiti School were lucky enough to be given the amazing opportunity to attend several gymnastics sessions through the Christchurch School of Gymnastics.
The Rongo-mā-tāne students were so excited to be able to give the different equipment a go for the first time. They were in groups of 10 and moved around different stations with gymnastics coaches. The stations included skills that focused on, balancing, jumping, rolling, swinging, and climbing.
The children had a blast and were so brave at giving everything a go, even if they were feeling a bit nervous about having to climb or swing.
The crowd favourite was learning different jumping techniques on the trampoline and then finishing with a big jump into the foam pit.
Everyone was exhausted but buzzing by the time we left and they can't wait to have their second session next week.
Have you done any gymnastics before? If you have, comment below and let us know your favourite gymnastics activity.
